about

This track is the first song we wrote post Rest // Eternal after going through some dynamic adjustments as a group. We used this song as a means of developing our sound and growing our production abilities. It discusses some very difficult topics based on a true events that a family friend endured as a small child. Sexual abuse by family is all too often swept under the rug and willingly ignored by most of our society, due to the uncomfortability of acknowledging that it happens. We feel that the darker the trauma, the more light needs to be cast into it. We hope this song speaks to you and carries you through difficult times. We love you.

lyrics

You look secure but I know of the ghost you fear.
Every haunted night that you prayed to be spared from your father.
Every selfish kiss that holds your spirit hostage.
Every stifled cry choked out by the greed of a monster.
You fear his voice, but sleep evades you even in the silence.
Pulled by his hands, holding you from escaping from his violence.
You want to run, but the fear renders your legs completely useless.
Don’t give up.
What are you waiting for? You are not the victim of consequence anymore.
Why are you so afraid? I am with you and I will forever remain.
You are worth more to me than the weight of this world in gold,
And for your life I offer every cent of my blood to be sold.
Without struggle the eagle never learns to soar.
The sun will rise and restore every leaf that you lost in winter.
I will regrow every blossom that he pulled from my garden.
Pursue the light, and let the ghosts of the void be erased,
Take my hand.
What are you waiting for? You are not the victim of consequence anymore.
Why are you so afraid? I am with you and I will forever remain.
I will restore every wound that he inflicted and rebuild every brick in my home that he destroyed.
Rebuild. Rebuild. I will rebuild your heart.
My dearly beloved to whom I send my deepest regards.
I know of your pain and please know how it breaks my heart.
But from your suffering I have built the cocoon of a monarch.
And may my hands be your anchor when your world falls apart.
What are you waiting for? You are not the victim of consequence anymore.
Why are you so afraid? I am with you and I will forever remain.
To the thief who hides his heart in an unmarked grave,
You will reap what you raped from the teeth of my blade.
What have you done?
I am the justice that you deserve.
You are unworthy to call her your daughter, for you are not a father, you are a monster.
You can’t run from yourself, you can’t hide from your own destruction.
Take your hands off of her, or I will consume them with the fury of a lion.
For I am justice. I am justice. I am justice.
I am.
